The pressure to travel during Stanford school breaks has been incredible! We've got friends and classmates planning trips to Japan, South Africa, Peru, and Paris for Spring Break. As you can imagine, Kylan and I caught this bug just a little bit and spent a lot of time researching different options: Guatemala for the Book of Mormon ruins, Caribbean for scuba diving, Madrid to visit our old neighbors, a Pacific Northwest road trip, etc. We had grand plans!
And, as you can see, all these plans translated to a different kind of adventure! After we looked at all the details of a big trip, we decided that although it would be amazing to visit any one of these places, we were also living in a pretty incredible place and should probably spend some of our final vacation days continuing to explore the Bay area. We ended up with a really fun Spring Break and will document it here in stages.
Stage One: Jelly Belly Factory!
We made it to the Jelly Belly factory just in the nick of time. We had missed the last tour by about 15 minutes, but luckily Kylan was able to convince the workers to walk us back to join the tour.
We were able to see all the different stages of production from mixing, to flavoring, to coating to packaging. It was surprisingly fascinating to see how they make the candy and of course all the free samples were a real treat, the girls were in heaven!
Following the tour we each got to choose a couple of tastes, what a difficult decision!
Of course like all good commercial enterprises there was a massive gift shop. It took some serious negotiating to get out of there without completely overdosing on sugar!
It was kind of a fun and quirky stop, but it was very interesting and a fun way to kick off our week of fun!
