Sunday afternoon hikes

One of our favorite things about living in California was the drive we felt to explore new places and really make the most of our time there. When we moved back to Utah we knew that we wanted to live the same way. Even though we had lived in Utah before and even though I grew up here, there's a lot that we haven't done or seen. So, one Sunday afternoon we took a family outing to American Fork Canyon. We took the Tibble Fork road and wound up at this beautiful spot. 

We brought our little fishing pole and enjoyed casting into the fishing pond. This little fishing pole we bought has been such a great purchase, there's no hook so you can't really catch fish. The best thing about this is we don't have to worry about the hook catching on clothes or hair and there's no pressure to actually catch a fish! You just enjoy the casting and reeling - it turns out that we quite like fishing that way.

We found a trailhead that left from the little fishing pond and climbed up the mountain . We just started hiking without really knowing where the trail went - we were just ready for an adventure! We took turns leading the caravan and pointing things out that we saw along the trail. The girls loved looking at the different types of wildflowers and were so curious about the shells that they found in the dirt. Why in the world would there be shells up in the mountains?
