Our 4th of July celebration included:
an early morning hike, a dip in the pool, an old-fashioned American BBQ, a trip to the lake, and fireworks in the park.
We were determined not to let the heat beat us.
But when the forecast says 118 that is not an easy thing to do!
We began our patriotic celebrations with a hike up Thunderbird Mountain with doughnuts and orange juice to enjoy at the top. We set off at 6 am in an attempt to beat the heat. It was only marginally successful. No one had a heat stroke, but it was still really, really hot!

The view from the top was beautiful, but clearly the best part of the hike was the doughnuts!

Serelle is a crazy driver. Rhino is a fast driver. Not sure it's a good combination when they're driving so fast she can't even keep her eyes open!
Lili is such a sweet big cousin. She adores Castle and looks forward to every chance she gets to play with her!
A hot blow-dryer.
That's what I think of when we go to the lake in July.
Cruising down the lake feels like holding a hot blow-dryer in front of your face.
Not completely unpleasant, but a dip in the cook lake is definitely required!
No pictures of the BBQ or fireworks...I guess that means we were having a good time!
I love this country and I love the 4th of July for the opportunity it provides us to celebrate our freedoms. We had a great 4th and were only a little bit sad to miss the Freedom Festival and Stadium of Fire back home in Orem!

Thanks for being a good sport about the summer in Arizona. Talk about making lemonade from lemons. That hot blowdryer image is exactly what it feels like. You all made my summer so much better than it would have been without you.
