Our third and final activity of the Memorial Day Weekend was to ride our bikes across the Golden Gate Bridge. This was one of the first things on our Stanford bucket list and it was so much fun! It was a beautiful day and we were happy to have the Bills family along for the ride, everything is better with cousins!
We parked at Fort Mason and rode along the Bay until we hit Fort Point. We stopped and had lunch there then continued up the hills to cross the bridge.
It's hard to see in this picture, but the bridge is behind those boats somewhere...
We were lucky to catch the bridge on a clear day, but our downfall was the wind. Oh the wind! There was a strong, cold wind rushing into the bay from the ocean so it felt like we were riding our bikes straight into the wind the entire day!
Halfway up the hills from Fort Point to the Bridge. Such an incredible view! I think a tour of Fort Point needs to be added to our bucket list...
We made it! And, luckily for us the ocean side of the bridge was wide open so we were able to cruise right along without any of the crowds!
At the first tower. It's hard to tell in this picture, but we really felt like the wind was going to blow us right off our bikes, it was crazy!
LOVE IT!!!
Action shot as we passed the second tower and were getting ready to head down the hill into Sausalito.
Looking back on the bridge from a fishing dock at the bottom of the hills. The hills were so steep that Kylan's brakes were literally smoking when we got to the bottom! We had to give them and our quads a little breather here.
On the ferry back to San Francisco. Sausalito was a little bit of a bust for us. Our one objective was to get some of the famous Lappert's ice cream, but somehow we missed the memo that they are a cash only establishment. We had no cash and no debit card. What a bummer! Luckily these sweet girls bounced right back from the disappointment, they are just the best!
On the ferry, there's just something fun about riding on boats! These kids were in heaven - maybe it had something to do with getting out of the bike trailer?
Looking back on the bridge - what a fun adventure!
One more checked off the bucket list!

Makes me remember my bike ride across the Golden Gate. Saw first hand evidence of what not to do while texting. Yep, riding down the hill on a bike into Sausalito. Ouch!
It looks like you guys are having a total blast in San Fran! Your sweet little girls are getting so grown up and beautiful!
What a great experience for the Lundeen girls and Bills boys. Love that you are together up there.
