Happy Birthday Liliahna!

 The day started out with a bang. I had planned to serve Lili's favorite breakfast - pancakes - but Kylan took things to a whole new level! 

 This year Lili's birthday fell on Yom Kippur, which just happens to be a school holiday here in Palo Alto, so she was able to celebrate her birthday all morning long! Breakfast was followed by her family presents, a couple from mom and dad and grandparents. She was most excited about her new razor scooter and Stanford sweatshirt - and about setting up for her birthday party!

 Last year we celebrated Lili's birthday just the four of us - partially because we wanted to, and partially because we had just moved to Stanford and didn't know very many people yet. It was a testament to this sweet girls ability to make friends and connect with others that in just one short year the problem was narrowing the list to a manageable number for the party! We ended up with kids from her Young 5's class, her kindergarten class, her primary class and the courtyard - it was a sweet group and Lili was so happy to be able to celebrate with so many friends (and of course, a little sister)

This year we celebrated Lili's 6th birthday "Fancy Nancy" style. It was a blast and I'm a not sure if I should admit that I may have had as much fun as the kids did! The guests arrived dressed up "fancy" and started on the back patio at the craft table to make a goody bag. If this was the only activity, I think they all would have been happy!

 Then we moved to the front yard for games. The first game was one that my mom created for one of my birthday parties when I was a little girl - it was a dress up relay race. The girls divided into two teams and lined up in front of two piles of "fancy" accessories. They each had to put on all the accessories, run up the hill, come back down, then transfer all the accessories to the next teammate who continued with the race. It was hilarious to watch and I'm so glad that Kylan caught this picture of Serelle, because the game moved quickly!

 The next game we played was another Kylan special called, "Princess, Princess, Dragon" - it was another success for the first few rounds, until the girls started to be drawn in by the playground.

 After the outside games we came in for a quick reading of the original Fancy Nancy book. I don't think we'll ever fit that many kids on one couch! One of the best parts of the book is when Nancy and her family go out for parfaits, or in other words, fancy ice cream. So, that's what we did next!

We just love our Liliahna so much and we loved celebrating her birthday in Fancy style! She is pure girl right now, loving all things pink, lace, flower-covered, etc., so it was a perfect way to celebrate six years of Liliahna.
