In an effort to make the most of our time with Kade here and before we got into the full swing of school, we decided to take a quick day trip to the city - aka - San Francisco!
We didn't have a lot of time, but we knew there were a few must sees for this first trip into the city:
First Stop: Tartine Bakery
A sampling of our goods at Tartine: lemon creme torte, banana creme torte, bread pudding, huckleberry torte and two chocolate croissants. Everything was absolutely amazing, but the hands-down favorite was the chocolate croissant. We should have ordered Five!
Golden Gate Park: by this time (we had already spent a couple of hours shopping in Union Square) the kids were exhausted. So, unfortunately, we didn't get to stay long. This park is definitely a repeat activity for me. It was a very quiet, peaceful park right on the bay with a fascinating connection to Fort Point, a Civil War Era Fort built by the US Army.
We had a wonderful day exploring our new city and are looking forward to our next visit. We'll probably repeat Tartine, but there are still lots of things to do and places to see.
We are happily accepting any SF advice from veterans of the city!
